Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) includes Nursery and Reception classes.

Nursery

Our school has a 52 two place nursery, split into up to 26 places in the morning and 26 afternoon places.  Children can join from the September after their third birthday.

Children benefit from a large outside space which is planned with features that support the EYFS curriculum and learning through play.

We offer 3 different attendance patterns:

  • Mornings Only – children attend 5 morning sessions each week.
  • Afternoons Only – children attend between 3 and 5 afternoon sessions per week.
  • 30 hour Offer – for families who are eligible for Government Childcare Funding – children attend 5 morning sessions each week, and up to 4 afternoons.

Admissions for Nursery are handled by the school office and details can be found here.

Reception

Whitley Lodge First School currently has provision for 45 pupils per year group. With two Reception classrooms, it means that our Reception children benefit from relatively smaller class sizes of no more than 23 children in each classroom for the academic year. This enables the staff in Reception to create strong relationships that enable children to flourish.

Children can join our Reception in the September after their fourth birthday.

Admissions for Reception are handled by the local authority and details can be found here.
